Learn Wispr Flow in 5 minutes.

Wispr Flow turns speech into finished text in whatever app you are in: hold a key, talk, release, and the words appear formatted and cleaned up. Your five minutes go to dictating the way it expects and fixing the habits that make voice input clumsy.

Talk like you mean the final text

Dictation fails when people narrate punctuation or speak in fragments. Flow removes filler and formats as it goes, so the skill is speaking in full thoughts and letting it clean up.

Hotkey

Hold, speak, release

It works in any text field: chat, email, code comments. Hold the key, say the thing, release, and the text lands where your cursor was.

Cleanup

Ums removed, punctuation added

Filler words vanish and sentences get punctuated. Say 'new paragraph' if you want one; otherwise let it decide.

Context

Tone follows the app

Flow adapts formatting to where you are: bullets in a doc, short lines in chat, full sentences in email. You can add personal vocabulary so names come out right.

What you will do in the lesson

You answer and try things. Nobody demonstrates at you for five minutes.

  1. Dictate one message. You say a three-sentence reply and read what came out, including what it cleaned up.
  2. Stop narrating. You redo a message without saying 'comma' or 'period' and compare.
  3. Add your vocabulary. You teach it three names or terms it got wrong and dictate them again.
  4. Dictate a prompt. You speak a long, specific request to an AI model and see whether talking produced a better prompt than typing.
  5. Decide when to type. You end by sorting tasks into ones that suit voice and ones that still want a keyboard.

Before you start

Is Wispr Flow free?

There is a free tier with a weekly word limit and paid plans above it. Enough to try everything in this lesson.

Does it work in every app?

It inserts text wherever the cursor is, so yes on the desktop apps it supports, with a mobile keyboard for phones.

Is my audio sent to a server?

Yes, processing happens in the cloud. Check the privacy settings before using it for sensitive material.

Why do people find it so fast?

Speaking is around three times faster than typing for most people, and the cleanup means you do not pay that back in editing.
